What Is VITA?
The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program provides free taxpreparation for eligible individuals and families. Returns are prepared by IRS-certifiedvolunteers and reviewed for accuracy. ReSources is partnering with United Way of Tucson tobring this program to our community.

You should consider filing if you:
- Receive Social Security, pensions, or retirement income

Single Fliers: Annual income up to $89,000
Married Filing Jointly: Combined income up to $89,000
The Tax Return must be within the VITA scope of service

Arizona Tax Credits
Filing a tax return may allow you to qualify for Arizona-specific taxcredits, even if little or no tax is owed. These credits can reduce taxes or result in arefund.
- AZ Property Tax Credit
- Property tax statement (homeowners)

- AZ Families Tax Rebate: Form 1099-MISC

Who Qualifies?
You may qualify if:
- Single filer: Income up to $89,000
- Married filing jointly: Combined income up to $89,000
- Your return is within VITA scope (see below)
Program Limitations & Out-of-Scope Check
Some tax situations cannot be prepared through VITA per IRS guidelines.
If you answer YES to any of the following, your return is OUT OF SCOPE:
- Filing married, but are filingseparated
- Some Taxpayers with ForeignPension or Social Security
- Claiming solar installation taxcredit
- Bankruptcy
- You had cryptocurrencytransactions
- You reported large capitalgains Mortgage interest credit(MCC)
- You had farm income
- You need extensive prior-yearcorrections
- Rental property (if any apply)
- Rental income with depreciation
- Rental income/loss
- Own a business With ScheduleC (if any apply)
- Expenses exceeding$35,000
- Business Showing anetloss
- Employee orcontractorlabor
- Depreciation
- Inventory/cost ofgoodssold
- Accounting methodother than CashBasis
- Business use of a home

Important Filing Requirements

Documents Needed (Bring All That Apply)
Required:
- Joint returns: BOTH spouses must be physically present
- Photo ID required for each taxpayer – Clear photos or copies are accepted
- Bank account & routing number required for direct deposit. IRS no longerissues refundchecks (direct deposit required)
- Social Security card / ITIN for everyone on the return
- OR SSA-1099 or official SSAdocument showing full name + SSN
- Photo ID (Driver’s License, State ID, Passport, Military ID, or Tribal ID)
- Income documents: W-2s, 1099s, SSA-1099, 1099-R
- Bank account & routing number
If Applicable:
- Education expenses (1098-T, receipts)
- Marketplace insurance (Form 1095-A)
- AZ Property Tax Credit
