ReSources give thanks

The time-honored observance of Thanksgiving heralds the beginning of the holiday season in America and it brings to mind the sights, smells and sounds of families and friends coming together, often from afar. As we all know, the importance of this unique holiday is bigger than its culinary pieces. It’s about sharing home, love and companionship around a festive table with food as the centerpiece. All our neighbors deserve this bounty, but not all can afford it this year without a little help. And help is on the way!

The ReSources Vail Food Bank will be distributing fully prepared holiday dinners on a “first come – first served” basis just before Thanksgiving and Christmas to eligible families living in the 85641 and 85747 zip codes. These delicious dinners are being provided by the Vail Safeway through customer donations to the “turkey bucks” program which launched on October 24th. (The actual distribution date for these dinners was not known at press time, but clients are encouraged to contact the Resources Vail Food Bank for that information.)

Thanks to the Vail community for supporting this program, as well as the Resources Vail Thrift Store, the annual Vail Championship Cup Golf Tournament, food drives, blood drives and many other ReSources programs that occur all year long. Because of you, we are able to continue our mission of serving the needs or our less fortunate neighbors

To all our most valued volunteers who contribute their time, energy and talent, ReSources extends a huge “thank you” and best wishes for a beautiful Thanksgiving. And to all our corporate and non-profit partners and supporters—Safeway, Walmart, Fry’s, the Vail School District, the Vail School District Foundation, the Vail Preservation Foundation, the Greater Vail Area Chamber of Commerce, American Legion Post 109, and many more—thank you for your continuing support and encouragement. Vail truly is a community of “Neighbors Helping Neighbors!”
